Reflection

Good leadership is extremely important to the success of any project. This course helped me to understand the role of being the technology leader in my school. As the technology director, I have always understand the responsibilities that go with that title, but this class has helped provide me with insight and tools to help me become a better leader. During the coursework for this class I was provided the opportunity to understand the technology planning process. We evaluated technology plans and developed vision and mission statements.

We covered the importance of a needs assessment and how to conduct one. A facility survey was used to conduct an analysis of our school district's technological resources. This enabled me to look at the resources I had in my district and how they compared with other districts. other districts. After determining what resources I had and the needs of my district, I worked on writing effective goal and objective statements. The digital equity and barriers to equity were factors I learned more about to make sure I was providing resources to all individuals in my district. This step definitely helped me to realize the importance of ensuring equality.

In this course, we also covered staff development. The knowledge I obtained from this unit of study will be very valuable to me in the next few years. I learned how to develop a staff plan after conducting a needs assessment and developing an understanding of the issues involved of the different models. The information we discussed concerning technology support staff's roles and duties will be very beneficial in future planning for my district. I used my visionary skills to develop a team plan for tech support. I hope to use this plan to convince my superintendent that I need help supporting the resources in our district.

Policies are important to keep order and protect the district from unneccessary liabilities. The presentation on policies I developed helped me gain insight into change and how to present it to all learners. The last unit of study concerned the cost of ownership of technological resources. It is imperative to have a plan for not only purchasing resources, but also for their upkeep.
