Reflection

I loved this course! I began with no knowledge of HTML or web design and I ended very proud of my accomplishments and learning. I truly learned a vast amount of information and skill in this course and it has already been beneficial to my students and me. Through this course I learned to code using HTML and CSS, to debug my code, and to validate my code. I also learned how to use Dreamweaver CS4 to create web pages. All of these experiences and skills have enabled me to build three websites this semester including this portfolio, my final project, and a webquest. I was also happy to be able to help my brother-in-law set up a web page for a project he was having difficulty with.

I learned about important features and characteristics of well designed web sites as opposed to poorly designed sites. I find myself now noticing the good and the bad on sites I visit. I am now cognizant of navigation systems, text styles, design standards, etc. that impact a sites usability.

I really enjoy web design and development. This course took me through the whole process beginning with a design document, building the site, and completing user testing and making needed improvements. I designed my final project as a tool for a teacher workshop I want to present. I can see myself designing such a site everytime I have the opportunity to present a professional development workshop. I would like to build a class site and more webquests. I'm looking forward to taking Intermediate Web Development to increase my skills and abilities.
