Standard I:  Technology Operations and Concepts (2000)

Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts.  Teachers:

A.  demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Education Technology Standards for Students)

Ever since I got my first computer in 1996, I have had a strong interest in and aptitude for technology.  I have always been the technology "go to" guy in my school when problems would arise.  As I am currently teaching Keyboarding and Computer Applications, my knowledge, skills and understanding of technology concepts is a must.

The Technology Integration Plan artifact represents some of my earliest work in this program and outlines my plans for the further integration of technology into the alternative school program I was teaching at the time in 2001.  The Foundations of Educational Technology Reflection and Course Evaluation provides a nice summary of my vision of technology and education as it was in the beginning of my graduate studies.  Finally, the Technology Plan Review offers my analysis and critique of the Sullivan School District's 2006 Technology Plan.

B.  demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.

Those who refuse to learn and grow in the field of technology quickly fall behind.  It is a well known fact that technology quickly becomes obsolete.  As such, I personally try to "stay ahead of the curve" by researching new and interesting technologies as I become aware of them.

The Passkey Software Evaluation and Microworld Product Review each represent an investigation and analysis of educational software programs.  I also very much enjoy learning new technology skills through application.  The Web Site Design Plan and Video Shooting Script each outline my plans for a final project that demonstrates a newly acquired technology skill.  The actual Web Site Project and Video Project (8.6MB .wmv) are also available.
