Technology and Assessment (ISLT 8458)

Course Description: Learn how to assess specific types of knowledge, using technology to enhance the process. Explore innovative tools and means of assessment that help teachers individualize and differentiate instruction to improve learning. Develop technology-enhanced assessment of student learning.

Reflection: As a teacher with a natural interest in using technology in my classroom, I wasn’t sure that a class on how technology can be used for assessment would benefit me. However, in this class I learned that while I did use technology to assess my students’ learning, I didn’t use it to its fullest potential.

This course had a special emphasis on how I could use technology to differentiate assessments in my classroom to meet each student’s individual needs. Whether it be using technology as a secondary instructional method for students who need reteaching or using technology to challenged my more advanced students, the naturally engaging presence of technology can help any teacher differentiate to modern students.
