Three years ago, I found myself with a classroom filled with student computers and a SMARTBoard. I believed I was headed to eMINTS training and I was going to learn how to teach students with computers. But, as I began the training, learning about community building, cooperative learning, and constructivism, I quickly realized that technology was just a part of what I was going to be doing as an eMINTS teacher.
eMINTS training transformed my classroom into an active, collaborative environment where students were no longer just answering my questions, but developing their own. Every learner can be reached with the use of valuable technology tools like Inspiration, Microsoft Office, SMART Notebook, and more. Virtual field trips, webquests, and digital storytelling became a part of my weekly lessons and transformed every lesson that I previously taught into a higher level of learning.
Throughout the training, I learned how to evaluate good technology resources, plan and implement their use in my classroom, and develop strong constructivist lessons that would inspire my students to reach new heights.
