iMovie Project

The Assignment

This page contains the project information given to my students.

Reflection

The iMovie projects always bring an interesting mix of creativity and problems. Any group projects are going to inevitably lead to groups problems in at least one of the groups, and this assignment was no different. While I would have preferred all groups to run smoothly, it was good to gain the experience of working with a group to help them solve their problems. In this case, there were time constraints where individuals did not plan ahead far enough to insure that they would have the time to complete their project. Luckily for them, they were able to work out these problems and the project was completed on time.

The iMovie project is the biggest project in the class. I gave my students more than a month to complete the project, and were preparing them for it from the first week of class. Preparations included talking about the movie making process (storyboards, scripts, etc.), showing them examples from previous classes, and showing them the video I created when I took the course. These preparations worked out well, because students commented on how much the organization helped them complete the project in a timely manner.

Student Videos

Truman Library

These students taped their project at the Truman Presidential Library. There were a few issues with sound and video quality, but they did a very good job.

Moldy Bread

These students created a video about the scientific method. They spent a lot of time creating costumes and props. They truly went above and beyond in this project.
