Course Description*

Introduction to creating web sites using HTML and Style Sheets. File transfer, rights on files, and file formats. Web server operation. User interface, navigation, and accessibility design.  (3 credit hours)

Personal Reflection

Even though I took this class six years ago, I still remember a great deal of what I learned because I have used my knowledge of HTML frequently since that time.  The class was different than I expected because the instructor required that we write our entire project in raw HTML using Windows Notepad.  HTML or WYSIWYG editors were absolutely not allowed.  I initially thought this was a little extreme but now I see the wisdom in it.  I use FrontPage or Dreamweaver on a nearly daily basis, but there have been many occasions when I have needed to tweak the HTML code directly.  Our instructor called this "going under the hood".  As I am currently creating this online portfolio, I am very grateful that I had the web designing experience of this course.
