Personal Reflection

If I am being honest, I will have to admit that this course was quite a struggle for me.  Even though I was successful in the class, I felt as if I was always floundering with the course expectations.  However, at one point in the class I finally realized that part of the design process requires being uncomfortable.  A designer is one who must think outside of the box and look beyond the usual conventions to find solutions to complex problems.  I felt that learning to conduct a Needs Assessment was a great benefit to me as a teacher.  Most teachers know intuitively when there is a problem that needs to be addressed.  However, conducting a formalized Needs Assessment is an excellent way of pinpointing a problem and making it tangible so that a solution can be developed.
