9467 - Technology to Enhance Learning |
Effects of technology use on learning and performance. Leading research in educational technology. Instructional design models, their uses, and methods of successfully integrating technology use. (3 credit hours)
I found this course to be a broad treatment of educational technology, almost like an introductory course. Unlike Learning with the Internet which focused on a specific learning medium, this class touched on a huge variety of instructional technology options leaving much to be explored on our own. I appreciated the opportunity we had to examine various case studies via the KITE database. Perhaps the greatest lesson I learned from this course is that just using technology for its own sake can actually be counterproductive to learning. Technology must be part of a well-planned, student-centered, constructivist learning approach.
