Reflection and Artifacts
This class was a very interesting follow up to the Introduction to Web Development. I learned more about how to use a cascading stye sheet (css) and java script in my web designs. I realized that the css is the easiest way to make sure the certain aspects of a website are uniform throughout the whole site, such as background, navigation, and title banners. The website I created during this class was the inspiration for the website of the Junior High Volleyball team I coach. I took this class very shortly after Introduction to Web Development and I was still looking for a replacement for how to recreate both my classroom website and the volleyball website. Using Dreamweaver to create the websites made it considerably easier to create the course's website requirements. Without Dreamweaver I would have been at a total loss on how to add some things, like JavaScript elements. Granted, you had to still hand code most of the website, but the Dreamweaver program gave helpful hints about issues in the coding, color coded the different tags for easy editing, and allowed you to see exactly what you were creating in a dual screen option.
I also took a reminder of flexibility away from this course. I had just about any technological issue you could imagine happen to me in this class. At the beginning of the class my computer crashed and all of the data I had on it was locked away where I could not access it. I got another computer and everything seemed to be going fine until Dreamweaver started not behaving like it should and not allowing me to see certain things that I should have been able to see. Then the trial I had expired and I had to learn how to use the school's remote access to their software. It was a very trying semester, but all of those set backs reminded me that teachers need to be flexible and be able to think on their toes especially when technology is involved, as it may not always work properly.
