7378 Electronic Portfolio Development
Description

This course focuses on the process of developing electronic portfolios to document the achievement of standards-based curriculum.

Portfolios are excellent tools assessing student learning over an extended period, but keeping learning artifacts organized and accessible is a challenge. This course will introduce you to electronic portfolios - a digital solution to documenting student achievement in a standards-based curriculum.

Reflection

I enjoyed reviewing all the material I have learned over the last year. Combining all of that information collectively and acknowledging how I've grown professionally was rewarding. Also, comparing my classroom methods and activities now to those prior to completing this master's program provided me with validation that I have improved in many areas of my educational career.

Reviewing the benefits of electronic portfolios through the discussion board was also helpful. It reminded me of the flexibility and professionalism that electronic portfolios provide. I have often wanted to start portfolios with my web page class as a project. Now, I have a refreshed understanding of the benefit and usefulness of such a tool.

Finally, the many discussion boards that provided feedback on our own portfolios were helpful. The class seemed to work as a team wanting to help everyone succeed. It was nice to be able to view works of others for examples and ideas. I hope to have a similar collaboration environment for my students when I begin the portfolio projects with them.
