My thoughts on ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT:

I wasn't really sure that this class would be a good choice for me initially, but I am SO GLAD that I took it.  I wasn't aware of the complete requirements for our master's portfolio before the class, and I'm not sure that I would have been as thorough or thoughtful in putting my portfolio together as I was by taking this class.  The deadlines were very reasonable and flexible throughout, and didn't put a great amount of pressure on the students to get the assignments done on time.

It was a tremendous advantage to be able to take the class with other students.  Through discussion board discourse, all of the work done in the class was reviewed by other students so that the advantage of their constructive and unbiased viewpoints could be gathered. For some, it was a benefit to know if their portfolio design served to compliment their portfolios.  In some cases, it was a help for the recipient to hear that a particular color or background wasn't working or that the chosen font made for unreadable text.  Students frequently helped each other by working out problems with the HTML as well. By being able to view other students' work, all students had the advantage of having examples to look at and sometimes good ideas were obtained by looking at how another handled a particular segment of their portfolio.  In addition to classmates' portfolios, there were also examples of past students' portfolios. I paid special attention to those because they had already successfully completed all of the steps.

It was apparent the instructor had experience in facilitating the class.  From her frequent and constructive comments and criticisms, I could tell that she knew what would be expected of our work during the faculty review.  For example, if some portion of our portfolio didn't make sense or would be questionable in the eyes of the reviewing staff, she would promptly let us know so that we could change it and sometimes would make comments on how the change could be bridged.   I would recommend this class to everyone.
