My thoughts on INTERMEDIATE WEB DEVELOPMENT:

This class really helped me develop skills that I had started learning in 7360 – Intro to Web Development.  I thought that I knew quite a bit about HTML and web design prior to the class, but as the assignments progressed, I knew that I had a lot more to learn.  There were many intricacies to plotting out the design of web pages that I came to know and use, like making “containers”, “menu-boxes”, and “header-boxes” to put things in like text, menus or header images.  In addition, I didn’t know that there were so many conventions that could be used to define text and other parts of a web page using divisions, classes, pseudo-classes. etc.

Through this class, I optionally learned to use a powerful web design application called “Adobe DreamWeaver”.  It took a while for me to familiarize myself with it’s special tools and functions, but it proved invaluable in helping me get my assignments done.  With the use of DreamWeaver while completing the assignments, I gained confidence in myself and my ability to creatively design web pages. I also learned how to create interactive effects using JavaScript.  I like the bit of scripting I learned and have already purchased an additional book on the subject to advance my skills.

I am very pleased with what I learned in the class.  I will use that information to create terrific future class web pages. If given the opportunity to teach web design again, I think my students will benefit from my new found skills. As a person who wants to represent herself as having special skills in technology, I think that the class is a good entry to see in my program of study.

For my final project, I chose to start designing my student portfolio for the masters program that I am enrolled in.  I have a good start on it now, and when my portfolio is ready, this class will have played a key role in helping me with it's completion.
