A,
Demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology as described in the ISTE National Education Technology Standards for Students(NETS•S).

  • For the past three years, I have been my district’s Educational Technology Specialist, so it’s my goal to provide training and scaffolding for all teachers in integrating technology effectively. As our district’s certified eMINTS trainer, I provide hundreds of hours of professional development toward that end. One can see from my eMINTS Training Schedule that the scope of the provided sessions for Year 1 and Year 2 eMINTS and eMINTS4All participants is quite well-rounded. (Click on one of the four labeled tabs in the Excel spreadsheet to view that group's schedule.) In fact, eMINTS was the first product or service to meet all of ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS•T).
  • While I have also provided multiple training sessions to non-eMINTS district personnel, the Staff Development Plan I developed during this program of study is a huge step toward methodically accomplishing instructional and technology training goals for all teachers. The fact that my concept map now visually indicates that the roles of effective teaching, learning, and technology are inextricably linked simply reflects how my perceptions have evolved since beginning this program.
B.
Demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.

  • Completing the eMINTS PD4ETS Train the Trainer program highlighted for me the necessity of remaining current with technology trends. Earning a Masters of Education in Information Science and Learning Technologies became the next natural step on this lifelong journey. What could better demonstrate my growth in technology knowledge and skills than the Electronic Portfolio created toward this degree program? This portfolio includes artifacts that demonstrate knowledge of writing HTML code, effective lesson development utilizing current technology tools, as well as technology presentations and recommendations.
  • The Speech/Language Disabilities Case Study I developed with fellow students and included in my portfolio represents one of the most enlightening processes I participated in to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies. I shared the study with our Special Ed Director, and she was extremely interested in the augmentative and alternative communication resources already at our disposal in district and online. As a result, these resources were then provided to teachers who are currently working with students who have speech/language disabilities.
  • In ISLT 9467, I surveyed several MicroWorld products before completing a MicroWorld Product Review of MicroWorlds JR. This LOGO interface potentially enables children Pre-K through 2nd grade to create, combine, and control sound, music and graphics to develop original, animated projects.
